Design precedents

AI City - BIG | Bjarke Ingels Group

This Precedent, although for a vastly different site context, kickstarted my concept of the valley/mountain idea within the urban environment, and with its interlinking exterior green spaces and internal learning spaces, it combined several elements that I was looking into to create a new multifunction urban plan.

The Flak towers - Berlin & Hamburg, Germany

Flak Tower Humboltshain - Berlin

An example of letting nature overtake architecture, and in a way enhance it. By allowing nature to grow and flourish freely, the city of berlin has created a beautiful landscape overlooking the city, whilst also allowing the structure itself to “play” with the space which has created a space for people to explore.

St. Pauli Bunker - Hamburg

The once reminder of a dark time in human history, has been “reclaimed” by nature in a controlled environment and transformed into a hotel and public park designed to bring the people of Hamburg together. It is now referred to as “The green mountain” which is a similar concept to my own initial ideas for the space of Portsmouth.
